So sometimes, I can’t do it.

This is sponsored content BlogHer and Olay.

So, there are days when I really can’t do it. I just don’t have the energy with a

newborn to put my full face of makeup on and do my hair. There are, however some staples that I do no matter what. I’m pretty confident that I could be on my deathbed and there would be things that I do makeup wise that just make me feel better about myself.

What are those things? Well, for me, chapstick (I have a slight addiction to chapstick, haha), eyeliner and now I’m adding Olay Total Effects Cooling Hydration to the list. I am in love with what it has done for my skin! My super dry skin that I talked about four weeks ago is now smooth and hydrated.

Now that I have a newborn AND a toddler (yikes, 2 under 2!) I need things that simple, fast and that WORK! Olay Total Effects Cooling Hydration simply is one of those products for me!

Feel like your moisturizer’s fresh feeling can’t last all day? New Olay Total Effects Cooling Hydration instantly cools and leaves skin with a moisturized fresh feeling that lasts from morning to night. The lightweight formula also fights 7 signs of aging for younger looking skin.

Welcome Brody!

This is sponsored content BlogHer and Olay.

Welcome to the world Brody! We are so excited to have you join our family!

I had my bag packed and everything ready to go, and if you couldn’t guess I am indeed one of those girls who takes makeup to the hospital. And a hair dryer. And my curling iron. Oh, and hairspray.

And in addition to that – this year I took my Olay Total Effects Cooling Hydration. Because it still works great – I notice the difference and now, it is a staple in my daily routine! If you have sensitive skin like me or are looking for a moisturizer that isn’t greasy, comes in a great pump bottle, can be used every day and keeps working all day long…then you’ve got to give it a shot!

My Daily Makeup Routine

This is sponsored content BlogHer and Olay.

I have my makeup routine down to a science. If Chris is waiting on me to get ready so we can head out somewhere, all he needs to do is see what makeup step I’m on to know exactly how long it’s going to take me to finish.

That said, using a moisturizer is generally NOT part of my routine; simply because I’m allergic to most of them and the ones that I’m not allergic to always come in those tub type containers, and as I’ve mentioned, I can’t stand those. I don’t like getting the stuff under my nails, especially any kind of lotion.

When I was given the opportunity to try out the new Olay Total Effects Cooling Hydration moisturizer I was pretty excited because my skin NEEDS it! My skin tends to be on the dry side anyway (something I’ve never understood because I drink a TON of water!) but when I’m pregnant it’s a nightmare! It’s so beyond dry that it’s not even funny…it gets to the point where I’ll even get red marks on my cheeks from it being so dry, and when you are as pale as I am, it really stands out!

So, I’ve been using the Olay Total Effects Cooling Hydration for awhile now – applying it first underneath my makeup, and I am really noticing a difference! My favorite thing is how gentle it is on my sensitive skin. I can really feel and see a difference in the dryness and texture of my skin. Another great feature is that it isn’t greasy! I hate when moisturizers are greasy and you can feel it on your skin all day long. This product absorbs almost immediately, and then I put my makeup on and I don’t even notice it the rest of the day – but it’s still working!

Review of Olay Total Effects Cooling Hydration

This is sponsored content BlogHer and Olay.

As you’ve probably noticed by now, I’m going to be having a baby – soon!

Being pregnant really messes with your hormones. It does weird things to your hair, nails and even your skin. In my case, it dries me out terribly. My skin gets really, really flaky. I also have really sensitive skin and there are a lot of products that I just can’t use. They break me out, turn me red and give me rashes.

So I was pretty excited when given the opportunity to test out a new product from Olay called Olay Total Effects Cooling Hydration. Olay has such a good reputation and I knew that whatever this new product was – it would be top of the line and it would also be gentle on my skin.

The first thing I instantly loved about the product was actually the way it’s used – it’s not in a jar where I have to dip my hand in it and get all messy. Call me weird but I’m not a fan of products that come in jar. All you have to do is use the pump top to disperse the moisturizer.

Now onto the actual product itself – you can use it daily which is great. I can put it on every morning under my makeup, and it feels fresh, clean and cool. The best part? It lasts all day. Some products tend to have a really strong smell and since I’m prone to migraines, I just can’t handle them. Total Effects Cooling Hydration has a soft scent and it doesn’t bother me in the least, in fact, I barely notice it. My thoughts? This is my new go to moisturizer. It lasts all day with one application. The scent is soft and hardly noticeable. And it’s made my skin hydrated and pretty again!

FFeel like your moisturizer’s fresh feeling can’t last all day? New Olay Total Effects Cooling Hydration instantly cools and leaves skin with a moisturized fresh feeling that lasts from morning to night. The lightweight formula also fights 7 signs of aging for younger looking skin.

Dealing with the sickies...($100 Visa Giftcard Giveaway)

This is sponsored content from BlogHer and Similasan.

Enter below to win a $100 Visa Gift Card!

As moms, at one point or another our children will get sick. Whether it be an ear infection, a fever, the flu or a cold, the day will come. And I think it's safe to say that we all dread those days! When you are dealing with a young child - no make that a sick young child, it can be hard to come up with things that will make them happy, help them feel better and keep them somewhat entertained.

I've been super lucky with Brayden. Not only is he a very happy go lucky little boy, but he hasn't been sick very often. But when he is, boy or boy...you KNOW he doesn't feel well! And the things that normally make him happy or entertain him just don't work anymore.
One of the things that I've found is the hardest to do with a sick baby is to get them to drink and stay hydrated. Recently, I learned a little trick that works great for Brayden. I take him to the ice maker and let him put ice in his sippy. Being involved makes him that much more eager to drink it down so that we can go fill it up again!

Another thing I've learned about a sick Mr. B is that he loves to be held when he's under the weather. I've found a few kid audio books that I can hold and he can turn the pages on and he loves that. He feels involved and like he's doing something but he's still comfortable and where he wants to be - with me!

But most of all, Brayden's very favorite activity when he's not feeling well is playing the bath. He absolutely loves it when he's sick. I get out all of his little floaty toys and water shooters and let him go to town. We wait to get his head wet until the very end so that he's not sitting there getting cold. He has a ball playing and the warm water always seems to make him feel better.

So tell me...what are some of your tips for dealing with a sickie?

Double the fun! Maclaren Review!

I am SO excited about this next review!

Awhile ago I posted about double strollers, and that I was looking at a few different options for Brayden and Brody. Well, Maclaren saw my post and sent me the 2011 Maclaren Twin Techno to keep and review!

Maclaren is my very favorite brand of stroller. After we had Brayden, we realized that the umbrella stroller that we had was just not a good quality stroller, or one that I really felt safe having Brayden in. If you know me, you know that I tend to research things to death! I found out about Maclarens while researching online and was so impressed at what I read. Thankfully, there's a boutique store near us that carries Maclarens and I was able to go and see them in person. We fell in LOVE!

So I was so excited when Maclaren asked me to review their 2011 Maclaren Twin Techno. And I'm even more excited to share all the awesome features of it with you!

Of course, Mr. Ham had to climb right in there so that he could get a picture in the stroller!

The Maclaren Twin Techno has so many wonderful features. It folds up so compactly like all Maclarens and the new 2011 model has some great features, like the double cup holders (below) and the storage bags. It also has 2 great storage areas underneath the stroller. The bags are perfect for holding your keys, cell phone, a diaper and wipes case, you name it!
The seats each recline separately which is another wonderful feature. In fact, it has a 5 position recline which makes it even better! Each hood is separate as well and they are even bigger than they used to be, giving each child more protection. You can see in the above picture that they've added UV protected viewing windows so you can peek in on the kiddos!

Maclaren also used the 5 point harness for ultimate safety. In the picture below I've got Brody's seat in the reclined position with his head positioner and Brayden's seat is upright.

I give this stroller a glowing review! There isn't a single thing that I don't absolutely love about it. And since you can use it from birth, it is the perfect option for us!!

IntelliGender Giveaway!!

I'm excited to announce my next giveaway, brought to you by IntelliGender!

On my main blog, I've talked about the IntelliGender test (and if you follow me on Twitter, I talk about it a LOT!) and eventually, I will show you mine and let you know if it worked for me!

But for now, I want to offer YOU the opportunity to win this great gift basket from IntelliGender! Included are an adorable onesie, hat, New Mom Rebalancing Drops, Nature's Nipple Prep Creme and of course, your own IntelliGender test!!!

I want to tell you a little bit about the test so that you know how it works. Included in the kit is a sample cup, a syringe for drawing up the sample and the actual test cup. The test cup is sealed and once you have your 20 mil's of sample, you put it in the cup, swirl, and wait 10 minutes! That's it! After your 10 minutes are up, you get down to eye level with the cup (that's very important) and look at the color. If you go to IntelliGender's site, you can see several sample tests and it makes it easy to compare you results to those of others.

And on a personal note, Chris and I couldn't agree on the results of my test, so I emailed IntelliGender and they answered me the same day - which I should mention was on a Sunday. They are so genuinely helpful!!

Soooooo, how do you win this great gift basket?

1. Leave me a comment telling me what you think we are having for ONE entry.

2. Go to my main blog and vote in my boy/girl poll (on the right hand sidebar) for ANOTHER entry.

3. Blog or tweet about this giveaway and link to the post on my main blog for TWO bonus entries.

Paci Clip/Badge Reel GIVEAWAY!

If you've seen practically any picture of Mr. B on my blog then you've probably noticed something that he has 99% of them time. Any guesses?

Ok, ok, so it wasn't that hard to guess was it?

I'm talking about paci clips. They have been a life saver. Truly. If I had to chase down every bink that Mr. B threw across the room, I'd be in SERIOUS trouble. Or I'd lose my mind. You know, one or the other. The main reason that I love these clips over the ones you can get at most stores is because of the actual clip part. It clips to the clothing without tearing it up and it's not huge like a lot of the ones on the market.

Here is one of our favorite paci clips:
And if I had a girl, I'd totally order her these:
What's that? You don't have a little one that uses a bink? But you work? And you have to wear a badge? I remember those days. Where I used to work you had to wear a badge just to get through all the doorways! And the best way to go about that? A badge reel. You hook your name badge to it and you can pull it out to swipe it. Then it just reels back in. Just. That. Easy.

So here's how to win. There will be 2 winners - one winner for the paci clip and one for the badge reel.

For the Paci Clip:

1. Leave me a comment letting me know exactly how you'd like your paci clip. Go to C&C Originals Site and check out her designs. Then tell me the fabric choice, ribbon choice, initial and font (curly or large block). Be sure to give me a way to contact you if you win!

2. For another entry, blog or tweet about this giveaway (if you blog, link back to the post I wrote on my main blog about this giveaway by clicking here, if you tweet, mention @Jenna05).

For the Badge Reel:

1. Leave me a comment letting me know exactly how you'd like your badge reel.

Fandangling Giveaway!

I'm really excited to bring this next giveaway to you!

Recently, a mom wrote me about a new product that she has designed for kids. It's called the Fandangling. If you've ever used a mobile in your childs room then you know there comes a time when they can stand up and pull it down even though they love to watch them.

Then Anne had a great idea - she came up with a way to make a safe, out of reach mobile for kids. Fandangling turns any ceiling fan into an interesting and safe mobile for kids!

Here is the one we have in Brayden's room with a close up of the little safari characters!

Don't you want to win one of these great Fandanglings? Or maybe win one to give as a gift?

Alrighty!! Here's how to enter the giveaway!

For 1 entry, leave me a comment here telling me which Fandangling kit you would like if you win the giveaway (don't forget to make sure I have a way to contact you if you win).

For another entry, become a follower of my main blog (how easy is that?!). OR if you already are a follower, leave me a comment on my main blog letting me know you follow!

And for one more entry tweet (mentioning @Jenna05 so I know you tweeted) or blog about this giveaway. Be sure to link back to my main blog post by clicking here.

Winner AND If you didn't win...

And the winner (thank you Random.org) of the Rachel Ray dutch oven is...

Kristy at Hall for One!

Congratulations Kristy! Email me your info (JennasJourneyBlog AT yahoo DOT com) and I'll forward it on!

And if you didn't win - I have THREE more great giveaways headed your way! I'll be posting the first one either today or tomorrow, so be on the lookout!

Thursday, February 4, 2010

The Rachel Ray Giveaway is HERE!

Do you want to win this 3.5 quart cast iron dutch oven from Rachel Ray Cookware??

I was so excited when CSN Stores contacted me about doing this awesome giveaway. And since you know that I don't review or giveaway anything that I don't personally use and believe in, here's a pic of me cooking dinner tonight using the dutch oven they sent me to review!

I have a few Rachel Ray products that I use just about every day (including my knives by Furi, and some other pans from her line). I think the best thing about RR products is that she actually uses them, therefore when she's developing the products, she is thinking about making them multi-functional and user friendly.

I have other cast iron dutch ovens but here is one thing in particular that this dutch oven has that others don't - a silicone handle on the lid. Why is that important? Because every time you want to peek in on what you are cooking, you don't have to stop and put on an oven mitt to do it! And, the whole pan can go from stove, to oven, to fridge. LOVE it!

Another great thing, is that the cast iron is covered in enamel, so you don't have to preseason it!

SO HOW DO I WIN ONE??

1. For 1 entry, leave me a comment with a way to contact you. Be sure to let me know how many entries you've earned in your comment!!

2. Visit Cookware.com and let me know what your favorite brand that they carry is for an additional entry.

3. Leave me a comment here (my main blog) and let me know that you are as excited as I am about this giveaway for one more entry.

4. And finally, blog about the giveaway (linking to this post) or tweet about it (mentioning @Jenna05, my twitter name) for an extra entry (if you blog AND tweet, you'll earn 2 extra entries!).
